'Guardians of the Gate' is the name of a bronze sculpture by Miles Metzger. It shows a sea lion family on the edge of Pier 39. What else? one might ask oneself. But if one learns that the owner of Pear 39 commissioned the sculpture in 1991, the answer is clear. How was it? "Who pays, creates" or something.
