Zaltbommel aan de Waal: a pleasant town with a nice square and various sights. On the Waalkade is a statue of a boy who indicates how high the water was in the Bommelerwaard in 1995. You will also find Jip and Janneke from the local celebrity Fiep Westendorp.
There is also a beautiful footpath along the Waal that runs under the A2 and the railway bridge.

Sophia Maria (Fiep) Westendorp (Zaltbommel, December 17, 1916 – Amsterdam, February 3, 2004) was a Dutch artist, who was best known for the drawings by Jip and Janneke. In addition to Jip and Janneke, Westendorp also illustrated the Women's page of the Parool and the books by, among others, Annie M.G. Schmidt, Mies Bouhuys and Han G. Hoekstra. She also illustrated advertising campaigns and made murals. Her estate has been placed in the 'Fiep Westendorp Foundation' foundation.
