Hiking Highlight (Segment)
The Fredersdorfer Mühlenfließ has dried up again this year. It is believed that agricultural and private water abstraction and the extraction of raw water from two nearby waterworks (Friedrichshagen and Strausberg) lower the water table. Today it is several meters lower and on a wider area than a few decades ago.
The consequences of climate change also play a role. Precipitation decreases and the river becomes drier due to the high evaporation rates.
