From the vantage point you have a great view of the stone dam. The dam was completed in 1914 and was the largest dam in Europe at the time. The prestige project of the German Reich was even visited by Kaiser Wilhelm II during the construction period. However, the opening ceremony in 1914 was canceled due to the start of the First World War and was never made up for. Today, the Edersee is still the second largest reservoir in Germany and a popular destination.
