A conspicuous elevation rises above the Edersee, the HEXENKOPF. Legend has it that witches used to die at the stake on this spot. But there is no evidence for this! However, a witch hunt in the town of Waldeck is known from the 17th century. Other reports that have been handed down tell us that the convicted witches were brought to what is now Bad Wildungen for judgment. The witches are said to have been held captive in the witches' bung at Waldeck Castle before they were burned. This can still be seen today in the local museum.
On the back of the HEXENKOPF is before the hill "Söhnen Wiese". Here in some places the grass still grows in dark green, circular patches. The assumption is reasonable that these must have been the nocturnal dance floors of the witches! ;)

On the Hexenkopf you have a beautiful view of the Edersee. Here, however, the forest looks damaged.
