The "Museum of Kyoto" was opened in 1988 and offers a small permanent exhibition on the history of Kyoto. In addition, regular special exhibitions are held. Especially worth seeing is the old main hall of the museum. The building was formerly the branch of the Bank of Japan in Kyoto, which opened in 1906. The stones for the building were imported from the UK!
