  • One of the most prestigious buildings in the Imperial Palace is the Shishinden (State Ceremonial Hall). This building was built in the style of the Heian period (794-1185) to be able to hold the enthronement ceremony in the traditional style. The enthronement ceremony of Emperors Meiji, Taisho and Showa took place in the current hall and the two thrones used during the ceremony are housed inside.
