The number of visitors doesn't decrease in the evening.
However, that's when the mosquitoes finally make their presence felt...
      Mosquito repellent recommended!

The Fushimi Inari Shrine (Fushimi Inari Taisha) is the head shrine for Inari, the Shinto deity of rice, fertility, and, most prominently, business prosperity. Its world-famous appeal lies in the breathtaking, seemingly unending path of over 10,000 vibrant vermilion torii gates that snake up the sacred Mount Inari. These gates have been individually donated by companies and individuals out of gratitude for good fortune or in hopes of receiving it, creating a unique, iconic tunnel that is one of the most photographed sights in all of Japan. Visiting is highly recommended because the journey through the dense torii offers an immersive, mysterious atmosphere unlike any other, with countless small fox statues—the messengers of Inari—dotting the tranquil forest trails. The complete ascent to the mountaintop offers spectacular views and a peaceful escape from the city.
