The Alte Post is one of the most important architectural monuments of the city of Drensteinfurt in the Warendorf district (North Rhine-Westphalia). The half-timbered town house is located on Mühlenstraße and was built in 1647. It is of considerable size for its time (28.30 m long and 12.85 m wide) and initially served as a warehouse and granary. In addition, there was already a place to live in the building. From 1850 to 1917 it served as a post station, from which the name of the building is derived. So the mail coaches and horses were placed there. In the years 1976 to 1980 it was extensively renovated and is used for council meetings, weddings or exhibitions. [1] On June 28, 1982 it was entered in the list of historic monuments of the city of Drensteinfurt. An old fountain, part of the ensemble, has also been a listed building since January 20, 2005.
