The sculpture on the Old Market in the pedestrian zone in Lohne was designed in 1988 by the artist Jürgen Goertz from Heidelberg and represents the historical development of Lohne.

With a bronze goose and an oversized brush, it provides two references to important early Lohner industries: the production of writing nibs and the production of brushes. The most striking motif, however, is the central male figure, a self-portrait of the artist. The Old Market forms the communicative center of Lohne. Numerous events and the market take place here twice a week.
