A street with a moving history, and today a special place in Dusseldorf. From 1902 the street was built with company housing for the "Düsseldorfer iron and wire industry AG". In 1975, the buildings went into municipal ownership and were to be rented out to make way for a commercial area. This was prevented by several squatters. In the meantime, the leases were legalized and the houses - mostly on their own initiative of the residents - rehabilitated. Particularly striking is the street art on many facades.More info:

What Hafenstrasse is to Hamburg, Kiefernstrasse is to Düsseldorf.
In the early 80s this was the center of the squatter scene.
There are now valid rental contracts for the residents of this street.
