With a length of 2320 m, plus the branch to Dermbach 310 m, plus the branch to Lombigswald 405 m, this is the longest tunnel in the Brachbach district, which was in operation until 1906.
The mining rights were granted in 1768 and a total of 30 mine fields were opened up.
With the excavation of this tunnel, the extraction of the ores and slate as well as the drainage was ensured.
The tunnel is owned by the Brachbach waterworks. A dam wall was built at 570 m in 1954. The existing water can be pumped to the Langgrube treatment plant through a 30 cm borehole.
