A manor is mentioned in 1255. In the 16th century, this was expanded into a manor under the von Pflugk family (which also belonged to Strehla Castle). From 1534 to 1782 it was owned by the von Ponickau family. After that, different owners changed. Princess Luise von Schönburg-Waldenburg owned the castle until 1945 and was then expropriated.

The castle and castle park are very beautiful, but unfortunately cannot be visited. The site (privately owned) is fenced and gated all around, making it difficult to take photos.
