The Große Stadtbach is the extension of the Isarwerk Canal after the Isar 2 run-of-river power station and flows on the western side of the Flaucher. At the Isarwerk 3 north of the Braunauer railway bridge, most of the water flows back into the Isar, part of which is diverted to the Westermühlbach. Before the power plants were built, the Großer Stadtbach was of great importance for rafting on the Isar and for Munich trade. South of the railway bridge there is a very beautiful footbridge that allows access from the Dreimühlenviertel to the Thomainsel and further into the Flauchergelände - a popular "Isar promenade" for almost 200 years.

In the past, streams and canals were diverted from the Isar to carry out the numerous efforts and to dispose of the wastewater

Even before the city was founded in the 12th century, mills were rattling along the streams, and all the streams to the left of the Isar were supplied by the Great City Stream.

Today it is an idyllic and very popular natural area where you can unwind.
