michaelf went for a hike.

It feels like spring has sprung. The birds are a-chirping, the bikers are a-biking, the hikers are a-hiking and the Lookout Mtn riders are a-climbing. Not sure what the skiers are doing. There has been some snow lately in the high Front Range. The hike barely shows up on the profile, even though it was the actual objective and all the pictures are from that short, but time-consuming section.

This little suburban summit is located at the edge of the Broomfield Big-Box office space area. In the past, I never really stopped here, often on my way to the start location to one of Ed B's DTC/DCC weekend rides. This time I had time to stop, and found that there are some intersting views in the other directions, of how masses of people choose to live in front of mountains. 72 degrees F (that's 22.2 Celsius) on this February 9th, and very tired from the last two warm (hot?) day rides. This heat wave is supposed to end in the next days. We'll see.

very warm and windy - Picture locations are Fort Logan National Cemetery, downtown and a few other locations along the way. There is case that can be made for photographing the ugly. Actually i have often been drawn in that direction before. Now that i look at it, actually more pictures in the previous post fit that category, and 10-12 on this page. Recently I was reminded by a you tube video that i am not the only one, who likes to take that sort of pictures. I'll put a link in the comments. That doensn't mean the photos can't be interesting or follow some other pinciple of composition or a principle that just occured to you. Those are the most important. Most photos are just attempts at a variation of street or bike photography. And one or two are just plain experimentation with editing tools. No AI period.

I hope to be cycling through attractive sceneries of mountains and streams and valleys again later. But for now I am stuck on this abstract/minimalist bike/street photo trip thing. I think that photography and cycling go together very well. I helps put the legs into automatic pilot mode, while the mind is busy following the eyes, and miles fly by like a time lapse. This was also a shopping trip to Together-Bikes and Lucky-Bikes. Major purchases were postphoned, and i just ended up riding back with 3 new used Serfas saddles bungied to the old saddle still on the bike.

Happy February 1st heatwave, at least if you are at the same location as me. The beginning of the profile is a reconstruction. For some reason the app had not started recording, even if it gave me the customary "let's go". But the new app has never stopped as the old one did many times. Yeah! Picture locations are the Clear Creek Trail, and Federal Heights. This is actually a city of its own, located on the map between where it says "Thornton" and "Westminster". At least on this ride it appeared as consisting almost entirely of mobile home parks (even if the homes stay put) - with a prime view on Denver - more photogenic than the modern 2 million dollar housing ghettos in my opinion.

This was a more realistic January ride than the last ones, definitely colder and more wind - still better than 90 percent of July and August days, when it is much too hot down here, and even in the mountains, when there is no cloud cover, which happens more and more lately, I suspect it was still a better day for biking down here than skiing in the mountains. I don't have any first hand knowledge of snow conditions up there. But it doesn't look like much from down here. Even though the highest point on the ride is on Ralston Creek Trail, many of the pictures were taken in or around Globeville, Besides being an interesting contradiction in terms, this is Denver's oldest industrial neighborhood.

Hi...
The view over the village to the snow-covered mountains is fantastic. The small village in picture 4 is also interesting; every house is different. Lots of living space on a small plot of land... 👋
