Maria-Hilf Chapel, Tannheim-Bogen

Highlight • Religious Site

The reason for their establishment was the "black plague" that raged in Tannheim in 1635. The chapel was built in 1649 and only consecrated in 1685 including the high altar. The chapel with its shingled onion dome has a spacious interior and a uniform altarpiece from around 1680. The shrine-shaped high altar harbors in its middle a statue of Our Lady with Child.

There are ways to get to the lake, either comfortably by bus, Tannheimer Alpenexpress, on foot on the tarred road or, which is very nice, the route in the forest.
If you circle the lake, there are two places to stop for refreshments on the north bank and the Vilsalpe on the south bank.
Due to a previous rock fall in 2012, a section on the eastern shore of the lake had to be closed. There is still a considerable risk of rock falling there, which is why it is not possible to circumnavigate the lake.
In winter, the winter hiking trail ends at the two lakes at the two lakes.

Vilsalpsee Lakeside Path

Highlight • Lake

The Vilsalpsee is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Tannheimer Tal, if not in the whole of Tyrol. Nestled in a nature reserve and surrounded by towering mountains, it offers you a unique panorama. The way here is simple and well developed, making it suitable for the whole family.

If you like, you can take the bus from the north shore or return to Tannheim with a tourist train. At the bus stop you will also find the Fischerhütte restaurant and the Gasthof Vilsalpsee.

Landsberger Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Landsberger Hut is a great rest stop on the Three Lakes Tour and on all other hikes above Lake Vilsalpsee. It's also a perfect base for further summit climbs. The hut has 30 beds in shared rooms and 80 beds in a dormitory.

The hut is open from late May to mid-October; in winter, there is also a small winter room with 16 beds. Information and reservations at dav-landsberg.de/landsbergerhuette.

The small lake, surrounded by rugged cliffs and green meadows, is the first lake on the Three Lakes Tour. When the water glistens in the sun, the mountain idyll is perfect.
