The day started with a down pour so I had my wash and wax to start the day. I have come to the conclusion that Shap to Sebergh is up hill both ways!! I have tried it both ways and its energy sapping with continual short drops and climbs. Once in Sedbergh the sun came out and I had a short break with great coffee and cake. Then it was the small matter of climbing Gawthrop hill and at just short of 1.75 miles it was tough. Do have to say though it was followed by several miles of down hill to Kirby Lonsdale. With the forces practising in the air, surrounded by steep hills and flowing water I felt I was already in North Wales. Weather would make a difference but this is an incredible up and over for any cyclist. Over all that was a great days cycling and the sun with warm wind at the end of September is almost unbelievable.
