We took the train from Grindelwald to Wilderswil and then the historic Schynige Platte cogwheel train. There are 3 route variations from the start of the trail. The clouds drifted in and out through the day. The Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau summits were obscured most of the time. It was still a beautiful trail.
We had cheese and salami, which was served with a special slicer, at Männdelen Hut.
Then our first Swiss summit: Faulhorn. The mountain hotel is supplied by helicopter 5 times a week. There used to be a glacier supplying fresh water, but they had to dig a pond for storage over a decade ago.
The descent to Bachalpsee was also lovely. From the lake to First, the trail got a lot busier. We finished with the clifftop walk there. Then got the gondola to Bort, where we got Trotti bikes back to Grindelwald (separately tracked).
