The cycling tour starts in Friedrichsdorf and leads through the wooded landscape of the Taunus towards the Hessenpark Open-Air Museum near Neu-Anspach. The route combines cycling through the countryside with several important historical sights and includes a visit to the museum.

The Hessenpark is one of the most important open-air museums in Hesse. Covering around 65 hectares, it brings together more than 100 historical buildings from different parts of the state. The buildings were relocated to the museum grounds when they could no longer be preserved at their original locations and were reconstructed here to illustrate rural life in Hesse over the past centuries. The site includes farmhouses, workshops, barns, a village school, traditional gardens and agricultural areas. Historical crafts are also demonstrated, giving an impression of how people lived and worked in earlier times.

A particularly interesting part of the visit is a theatrical guided tour. Instead of receiving a conventional historical explanation, the visitor encounters actors portraying people from a particular period and experiencing everyday situations of the past. The museum theatre uses these performances to make social history and rural life more tangible and entertaining.

After visiting the Hessenpark, the cycling route continues through the Taunus towards the Römerkastell Saalburg. The reconstructed Roman fort is situated directly on the former Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes and provides another major historical highlight of the tour. The forested surroundings make the transition from the open-air museum to the Roman site particularly scenic.

From the Saalburg, the route continues through the Taunus to Giggelsburg and then towards the Batzenbaum. The landscape is predominantly wooded, with quiet forest roads and paths providing a pleasant contrast to the historical attractions along the way.

The final section leads back towards Friedrichsdorf via the Batzenbaum. After the cultural and historical highlights of the Hessenpark and Saalburg, the last part of the ride is mainly about enjoying the Taunus landscape and the cycling itself.

Overall, the tour combines cycling, regional history and nature particularly well. The visit to the Hessenpark makes it more than just a cycling excursion, while the Saalburg adds a Roman historical dimension. The route through Giggelsburg and over the Batzenbaum then provides a quieter and more natural finish in the Taunus.
