We decided to escape the smoke from the Cairngorms wildfire 🔥, which had blown all the way to Aberdeen. Headed north due to the wind direction. Parked in Cullen and followed national cycle route 1 to Portgordon. Lovely cliff top coastal paths, partly following the old Moray coast railway line 🚂 (which ran from Elgin to Portsoy until 1968). The viaducts around Cullen were really impressive.
My first visit to Bow Fiddle Rock 🎻 in Portknockie. Such a cute village too! Many lovingly rennovated fisherman's cottages.
We were the only lunch guests at the Brig and Barrel in Buckie (great toasties and baked potatoes 🥔).
At Portgordon beach the seals 🦭 made a lot of noise.
We then followed the Speyside Way along winding, narrow track to Spey Bay and the dolphin centre 🐬. The sea was flat, perfect for dolphon watching, but none were spotted. The coffee ☕️ and cake 🍰 at the café was still great!
