Taking on Great Dun Fell has been on my list for a little while. I've not done it sooner just because it's a little further away and a bit of a drive. But I'm glad to have ticked it off. Overall good weather. Started off a little cloudy, especially going up Dun Fell. Although at the top I was above the clouds so it was pretty pleasant. Took a while going up and only a quarter of the time to get back down. Turning the corner at the bottom of climb it starts off pretty gently but it goes up and up and up with a few steep sections. Certainly wouldn't want to come down it in adverse conditions! (or up it). Approaching nearly 70k/hr is not difficult and my brake discs had a good work it.
Overall this route if pretty much all just quiet little roads with the exception of a 1.8km section of the A66 and then a 200m section later on of a busy road. Certainly up there with other favourites.
