Finally went for it and got my first 100 mile ride done. I had meant to go to Lincoln and back. My planned route criss-crossed in Newark and when I got there I followed the wrong loop 😭 by the time I realised, it would have added more to my route than I planned. So looped back and added Kedleston to get to 100 miles. Will try the intended route another time, maybe next week.Pacing felt good and had several snacks and stopped for a couple of meals to keep the energy up. Think I got it about right... route reading aside😂Happy to have achieved a goal.

Turned out to be a nice day for it. Bit chilly to start with but that's fine as I soon overheat otherwise. Messed up my pacing though and got a little frazzled towards the end. Should have stopped at the first quarter instead of pushing to half way before taking a break. Still, a few more miles under the wheels

Cycled to Alport Heights and back. Some really nice quiet back roads. Quite hilly in places for me, but got it done.About 45km in I was coming down a hill about to go around a tight corner when 6-7 cyclists were coming up, I put the brakes on but the road was wet and I just couldn't keep upright and slipped. Not too bad but one of the cyclists ran over my wrists! Thankfully only suffered a scuffed knee and a broken GPS mount. I'm fine, the bike is fine. They gave me a few jelly babies, made sure all was good and back on the bike.Another few miles under the wheels

Didn't want to go particularly far or strenuous so just went to Calke Abbey for a bite to eat and came home via the canal rather than via the airport.Lovely day for it. Got my wheel sorted with a new spoke and got it trued so it doesn't now wobble all over the place😂 think I need to retire my rear brake pads now. Still rubbish at going up any sort of elevation😂 I'll just need to go to Crich and work on it or something...

Before setting off I broke a spoke putting the wheel in the car, and then punctured my inner tube whilst putting it all back together. So a good start! But the scenery once on the bike, oh man, beautiful. Ribblehead is nice but I think Dent Head Viaduct is the better one to visit. But Ribblehead does have a pub next to it so yay! Very undulating today. Not the most elevation I've done but some sustained climbs for me. But what goes up must come down! The second main decent was a cracking 4km downhill, pretty steep in places. Shame about the corners or I could easily have gone 40mph+.Awesome weather, glad I got up there int Yorkshire Dales ont bike.
