Comment on the tour: Did it together with our daughter (4.5 years old), who was already quite experienced in the mountains, worked out well. The paths are very good and mostly easy to walk, even for children. The view is great. Due to the altitude, make sure you have good equipment, the weather can change very quickly.
Today we did the snowshoe hike. Star was at the Logde Krippenstein via Heilbronner Kreuz to the Krippensteinbahn 3 (just before the Gjaid Alm) then up along the ski slope back to the Logde. The path was also easy to do without snowshoes, as the snow was pretty well trodden and frozen. The last ascent took us about 1.5 hours.
The Heilbronn Cross commemorates the sad story of the Heilbronn school class who were caught in a sudden storm while hiking to Krippenstein in the spring of 1954. Heavy snow fell suddenly, and the ten students and three teachers were killed in the accident. The cross stands at the spot where the school class was later found.
