In the middle of the forest you come across the art installation “Hand & Foot”. There is a bench opposite the sculpture so you can sit down and think deeply.

The cross on the Hoch-Ley above the Baybachtal offers a wonderful view. But be careful: anyone who thinks this is a summit cross is mistaken. It goes a little higher, up the Ackersberg.

The Upper Baybachtal dream loop is one of my “very favorite routes”. Not a second, not a meter will be boring here, simply because the Baybachtal is so beautiful.

Trail Reviews

Gitti
July 15, 2023, Traumschleife Oberes Baybachtal

I think this tour is very nice for the dogs, as it mainly goes through shady forest, but also small parts of open fields. Andx also beautiful along the Baybach. For me personally, no views, no real highlights, more of a beautiful forest and meadow circuit.

Today is "International Women's Day" and what do women do on a day like that? That's right. Hiking. Like on almost every other Saturday of the year. This time I decided on the Hunsrück and specifically the dream loop Upper Baybach Valley (No. 104) and took the 620 bus from Koblenz to Leiningen/Schloß Reifenthal early in the morning, where I arrived after an hour's journey without changing buses. From there I started straight into the dream loop, almost at the starting point and even in the "recommended" direction. "Mills, rocks, water and distant views" - that's how today's dream loop is advertised and in principle it offers you exactly that. The first section leads directly into the Baybach Valley, you walk a little higher up to the right of the stream along wide forest paths that are still ripe and partly frozen early in the morning. There is not much of the announced 16 degrees yet and the leaves along the side of the path are also covered in white. After about 1km the path branches off to the right and I walk gently uphill, partly along meadow paths and partly along the edge of the forest. I reach a very large dead tree trunk without branches, in the bark of which, for reasons unknown to me, several round mirrors have been embedded. I can't say what it all looks like when the sun's rays fall on it, I set off too early for that and the sun is still too low. I cross a sparse forest and after 2km I reach open fields, at the end of which a different kind of diversion awaits me. Here, countless diversion signs pointing in all directions have been attached to a post and may cause some confusion for extraterrestrial visitors 👽😵‍💫🔄 The fields change to meadows, at the end of which something more wooded awaits me, including the next objects of human origin. Here, mannequins have apparently had their limbs torn off, sprayed green and draped decoratively to the delight or displeasure or confusion of hikers. Well, as we all know, art does not come from ability and does not claim to please everyone who looks at it. Perhaps I am just too dull to really understand the meaning behind it and therefore have very little to do with such works of art in nature. After about 3 km, I reach the edge of the forest and shortly afterwards turn left to the first consciously perceived spring on a dream loop. However, this is marked with a sign saying "no teak water". I walk a few meters further to the forest chapel, light 3 candles and then continue to follow the path, which leads me alternately through forest and meadow areas for the next 2 km.

Today the condition of the path was a stark contrast to yesterday. You are mainly on narrow forest paths and trails, with a constant up and down through the very beautiful upper Babybach valley. Although the path does not offer such a stark highlight as the gorge, otherwise it does not have to hide from the Baybachklamm dream loop (https://www.komoot.de/tour/226844328?ref=aso). We will definitely come back in the summer when the trees are green and the temperatures allow a little splashing in the Babybach - the "Rutsch" break spot is more than just ideal for this. Really a highly recommended dream loop! Further details about the tour can be found here: https://www.saar-hunsrueck-steig.de/traumschleifen/oberes-baybachtal You can find further reports from me about the Traumschleifen in the collection: https://www.komoot.de/collection/1099582/

For me, as a big Hunsrück fan, this dream loop was a real treat for the soul today So much water in the streams, the great slate rocks and the wonderful landscape over forest and field. Very beautiful! The weather was great and luckily the mud I was expecting was okay. Absolutely recommendable dream loop😍😍👍🎒🥾

Our hike for May 1st was the Saar-Hunsrück Dream Loops: "Upper Baybach Valley." Tip: At Strieders Mill, located directly on the trail, you can enjoy a cool drink or a small snack before continuing the tour along the Baybach stream.

Left early to be back home in the heat... nice round, varied paths accompanied by many highlights!

A disappointing tour for me, apart from 2 or 3 places... Hardly any paths, few highlights... If you want to cover a lot of kilometers, or chat a lot in the group (you definitely won't miss anything), you can do the route. Otherwise - at least I - wouldn't recommend it.

Today, after a lot of sun was reported, Tanja once again chose a dream loop for us. Beautiful paths, wildly romantic elf forest, streams that were more like rivers, lots of slate, great rest/viewpoints and fabulous hiking weather made our girls' Monday a dream day on the Oberes Baybachtal dream loop. ♥️♥️♥️
