It has been exactly 2 weeks since I finished my traverse of Tenerife. It's time to lace up my hiking boots again and continue my ongoing project "Welterbesteig Oberes Mittelrheintal".
I am starting the 7th stage at the main train station in Boppard, where the access path along the Rhine leads me to the

*Meaning and Meaningfulness*
Now it is here. The last day of my hike through Tenerife.
I pack my things together one last time and shoulder the heavy backpack. But somehow it doesn't feel quite as heavy today.
I walk the stretch out of Arona, which I already walked yesterday. So, first through the town

*Going downhill*
The second to last day of my Tenerife hike starts relatively early.
We head down in bright sunshine to the village square in the hope of seeing a stage sign. No luck.
I leave Vilaflor de Chasna via a road, take a look back at the village now lying below me, and enter wild nature again behind

*The Teide 🌋 by my side*
I only start my hike today around noon, the bus from Vilaflor de Chasna only runs here once a day, so I had no other choice. And it wasn't worth my second kidney for another taxi ride. The advantage is that I can leave the large backpack at the accommodation and hike with unusually

*Pudding legs and high up*
Yesterday's rest day did my head a lot of good, and thanks to a clothes rack, hairdryer, and oven, my clothes and other gear are dry again 😉
So, I set off again in good spirits as early as possible in the morning, and immediately curse my choice of holiday apartment, as I have

*Blood, sweat and tears, or also continuous rain, fog and alone in the wilderness*
I don't know in the morning how much the 5th day of my traverse of Tenerife will challenge me mentally and physically.
I wake up before sunrise and look from my shelter into a thick soup of fog. Great. With cold fingers

*Back on the right trail*
I start late in the morning from my accommodation. The weather doesn't promise much good at first, thick banks of fog hang over the mountains and it's raining.
Today I'm walking the actually signposted GR131, the completely official route. Well, then it can only get better than

*Himmel Herrgott Komoot are you f*****g kidding me right now?!*
In bright sunshine, we leave San Christóbal de La Laguna. It quickly gets quite steep, but it seems much steeper to me because of the asphalt surface.
I follow the path marked purple/green in komoot, thinking it can't be that wrong. It's supposed

*Completely different than planned*
Of course, I wasn't going home to Gran Canaria 😂 the next part of the GR131 is up.
So I took the ferry over to Tenerife and took a bus for about 1.5 hours north to the Parque Rural de Anaga.
The GR131 on Tenerife is the only part that doesn't run from coast to coast

"Plenty of altitude meters and real markings"
I start my day from my hiker's accommodation far too late. It's already light, and the other hikers left an hour ago.
No cozy warm-up today, it goes straight uphill.
Due to the lack of GR131 markings, I continue to follow the Camino Santiago out of the village

Mountain goat and snail's pace
I wake up before sunrise to the soundscape of numerous mosquitoes and can't bring myself to get out of my sleeping bag for a long time. It's just too cozy.
So I finally get going around 8 o'clock.
I follow the path towards the Ayagaures dam and admire the rocks towering beside
