Since you cannot walk directly along the lake shore, you always look forward to a great view over the dam.

An estimated 800,000 people get their drinking water from this dam.

The Wahnbachtalsperre is worth a hike in every season. Especially in autumn, when swaths of Nevel wander over the water in the morning and the autumn leaves make the surrounding forests shine in bright colors

With the most beautiful spring weather, it was truly a dream here at the Wahnbach Dam. Beautiful, well-maintained hiking trails invite you to a wonderful walk.

I'll be doing a complete walk around the dam soon; I'm really looking forward to it :-)

Completely unspectacular route on wide forest paths. Almost like a convalescence route!

I already went on the tour in May last year, but got misdirected in the middle, so another successful attempt.

The Ringelsteinweg is my second tour in the Bergisches Land today. It runs steadily uphill and downhill and mostly along the Wahnbachtalsperre. Due to the wide forest roads, the path is very frequented by cyclists. In particular because of the beautiful views over the dam, I can recommend the path, despite the gravel paths.

The start was on Sundays in the LIDL car park - there may be guards on the other days.

In parts beautiful / muddy paths in the forest, also some solid / asphalt paths.

Because winter => view of the lake.

There are no rest stops along the way, but Neunkirchen will have something

The hike began at Antoniusplatz in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid. From there, the path led me through Wolperath and into the autumnal forest, where the sun bathed everything in warm, golden light. Far below, the dark water glittered silently between the slopes, like a secret mirror of nature.

Due to the proximity to the reservoir, it's relatively pleasant in most places, even in warm weather.
You can feel the cool air rising up the mountainside. What I also really like is that there are benches in many places, some of which offer truly beautiful views of the reservoir. I would recommend the tour!

In the rain break just to the blue lagoon. From Remschoss steadily up and down the reservoir on the left. Sometimes closer and sometimes a little further away, it goes along the well-signposted Sieg adventure trail to Wolperath. Unfortunately, the way back along the main road. But it scores from there with particularly beautiful views of the Bergisches Land.
