Alb River Cycle Path, Karlsruhe

Highlight • Cycleway

Along the Alb, the bike path and also in the middle of Karlsruhe. If you want, you can refresh yourself here by the river.

Thomas Weir on the River Alb

Highlight • Structure

If you have been cycling for a while or are on your way home after a hard day's work, the weir invites you for a short break. Far away from street noise and traffic, you can breathe a bit in this idyll and "come down". A bit of birdsong and the sound of the Alb, before you dive back into the world of hustle and bustle. A very nice place!

A great alternative (which I did not know before Komoot) to the way to the bridge over the Rhine directly on the southern tangent.

Old Harbour, Leopoldshafen

Highlight • River

The old port of Leopoldshafen was an important transshipment point for Rhine shipping in the 19th century. Due to the question of location, the port was in competition with Daxlanden and Knielingen. In 1833 the Schröcker proposed to Grand Duke Leopold that the port and the place be renamed. Schröck and the port became Leopoldshafen in the same year.

I've never cycled along the Alb River to its confluence with the Rhine. I followed the Alb River, then to Wörth am Rhein, and took the Leimersheim ferry back to Baden-Württemberg. Another beautiful stretch: over the Rhine flood dyke, over the Pfin relief canal, along the Alb relief canal, past several gravel pits, and through nature reserves.
Then past the …

The fleet has been expanded to include a city bike with a belt drive!

Today I finally got around to testing the Enviolo Trekking extensively! The third Kalkhoff in the group passed the first check!

A lovely Sunday ride. I was alone this time, but I met lots and lots of cyclists. It was very busy at the ferry in Leopoldshafen. 🙂 And of course, at the Hofgut on the Rhine.

In itself, that should be the small Pamina Tour North. Because of a diversion at the dam, we followed the signs and ended up in Jockgrim. We started in Maxau. Where some of us traveled by train. That was easy with the S 5. Then it went partly along the main road, which I didn't like that much. It's also …

I like driving on the Alb, but it was really busy there this afternoon

Beautiful tour with very good paths. Mostly paved, but otherwise great to drive on.
There was also delicious ice cream in Leopoldshafen.

Shift work at the lake festival, unfortunately there was only time for a smaller round. But it was so wonderful. I love the Rhine cycle path. The cycle paths are fantastic to ride, the landscape beautiful.
