Freudenstadt Market Square

Highlight • Monument

A kind of cloister surrounds the market place in Freudenstadt. The tour under the pillars and along the shop windows lets you experience the marketplace from different perspectives. Details emerge - small boutiques, the smell of bread from several bakeries, hidden fountains and sculptures. The market square in Freudenstadt is the largest enclosed market square in Germany and measures 219 x 216 metres. It was built in 1599 according to master builder Heinrich Schickhardt's plans in the form of a mill board. Today the market square is divided into the upper market square, the lower market square and the post office.

A very well-paved bike path. Not too steep and always along the Murg River. There are plenty of benches along the way for resting.

Mummelsee

Highlight • Lake

An old legend tells that in the past, nixies and dwarves, as well as a king, lived in the Mummelsee. On full moon nights, the nixies are said to have come to the Deckerhof in Seebach to do handicrafts, sing, and tell poems with the inhabitants.

Even today, the nixies visit village evenings. Of course, only in the company of their strict father, the Mummelsee King.

Busy on weekends. If you really want to enjoy the peace and beauty of the high moor, as well as the all-round view, you should make the ascent early in the morning or late in the evening.

Tour de Murg Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

A beautiful bike path leads you along the Murg River through the valley. Cycling almost seems to do itself. :) Until the 19th century, the Murg River was used as an important trade route for timber rafting.

Expanded suitable for racing bikes. In places a bit nooks and crannies, but well signposted. And scenic.

The little church here at the edge of the forest was inaugurated in 1951 and is often used for weddings. With a small park next to it.

Today our Black Forest circular tour began. Pure sunshine, actually already a bit too warm for cycling. We went out of Freudenstadt and from there only the beautiful nature. Back in the evening, after 73 km and 1193 m of altitude gain, we earned our dinner in Freudenstadt.

Along the Schönmünz and the Langenbach to Hinterlangenbach. Continue up to the Seibelseckle and the Mummelsee. Back on a beautiful panoramic route, past the Lothar monument, to the Darmstädter Hütte and the Ruhestein National Park Center. On a wonderful, almost completely paved route, along the Rotmurg via Obertal and Mitteltal and Baiersbronn back into the valley.

Today after the duties at home and grandma would be picked up Kur. I needed a little clear head. I was on vacation today because of her. The kids were at school and I only had my appointments this afternoon. So go Tour de Murg and towards Seibelseckle. Then I treated myself to a cake and something cold to drink. …

Great tour number two 😉
From the Murgtal into the beautiful Langenbachtal up to the Black Forest High Road, Seibelseckle-Ruhestein, through the wonderfully idyllic Rotmurgtal with waterfall and mountain streams back to the magnificent Murgtal.
Top tour ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Starting, slowing down and enjoying is absolutely perfect 👍

I thought we would do a "cool" bike ride in the shady Black Forest in this sunny, hot weather, but it turned out that the Black Forest can also be pretty sunny.😅 😎
Started in Baiersbronn and cycled along the Murg via Klosterreichenbach to Schömünz.
Then we continued through the Schönmünz and Lengenbach valleys. The cycle path there is highly …

Today I went down the Murgweg again to Huzenbach. There's a great bakery there. The Landjäger are very tasty 😋 😊. Then we continued to the fountain in the direction of Hinterlangenbach. So I took a little break. Eaten the 🍻 beer and the Landjäger with the pretzel 🥨. Then we continued in the direction of the Auerhahn and up …
