View of the Moselle Loop from Calmont Summit Cross

Highlight • Viewpoint

On weekends and public holidays, wine from Calmont and cake are served here. Tastes great, after you have the via ferrata behind you.

🤔 Slightly misleading name, but from the location you can divide the Moselle into 4 lakes.

Calmont Ridge Trail

Highlight • Trail

A super "via ferrata" or rather "climb" for beginners. There, surefootedness and, to a certain extent, height suitability can be tested. Via ferrata set is not mandatory, but advisable especially for inexperienced climbers. Sturdy shoes and gloves are required!

A fantastic climb. Great opportunities to rest, great views, doable with children and great as a circular hiking trail via the Calmont Höhenwanderweg.

July 22, 2021,Moselsteig: von Neef nach Ediger-Eller
Very nice section of the Moselsteig! The view above the Calmont is spectacular, the Moselle loop there really beautiful!
We didn't go the via ferrata - nevertheless it was pretty steep and a bit adventurous in between on the descent to Ediger-Eller. But with a little surefootedness, everything can be done easily - it's worth it!

🥾 Day 4 on the Moselsteig with children. Today we went from Neef to Ediger-Eller.

👀 Our goal: The Calmont ridge and the Bremm summit cross to admire one of the most beautiful views of the Moselle loop.

⏳ But first we had to wait. Wait for the rain to stop. We have now adapted to the weather and spent …

This is the fourth time I've hiked over the Calmont, and it's always been a special experience. The lower sections of the trail are narrow, some mountain trails, and sometimes quite steep; the high-altitude trails are breathtaking. Views of the Moselle Valley and the Moselle loop at the Calmont are always there. After the summit, it's almost all downhill, past …

Even if the path appears to be quite short, it was quite challenging. It actually only went uphill and then really steeply downhill. Without a stick this could have gone wrong. An entertaining tour with some highlights - unfortunately the weather didn't quite play along, but the great train connection back (in 2 minutes by train back!)

After the 20 km yesterday, today is the shortest tour of the entire Moselsteig to the Calmont. The climb is long. At the top of the summit cross, of course, with the good weather today, all hell broke loose... but! Finally sun☀️!!! Who would have thought that I wasn't lugging my sunglasses around for nothing 😂.
The Calmont is great, …

A very pleasant and beautiful tour via the Bremmer Kreuzweg uphill to the Calmont (please not in wet weather). On the Calmont very nice view of the Moselle loop, take better photos below (Calmont via ferrata).
Continue on the Höhenweg to Ediger-Eller or alternatively via the via ferrata. Very nice vantage points along the route.
Great tour with great weather …

Very warm today with 33 degrees C for this tour, very steep ascent from Bremm, very steep descent to Ediger-Eller station. Lots of thirst on the way! Otherwise nice Mittelmosel atmosphere

Today we continued on the Moselsteig. Since the stage is super short, but I wanted to stay in Ediger (not just run through), I only left shortly before noon.
Quite cold (at the breakfast table there was talk of 2 degrees) - luckily gloves were included
The ascent is nowhere near as strenuous as it sounds on the Moselsteig homepage …
