When the weather is nice, dangle your legs in the sand and take a break. With a little luck, one or the other big pot will come by.

Övelgönne Museum Harbour

Highlight • Historical Site

The Museum Harbor Oevelgönne is a berth for historic ships and boats in Övelgönne at the southern part of Hamburg-Othmarschen on the Elbe River.

Privately founded and operated bz Museum Oevelgönne eV, an association for the preservation of historic watercraft, it is the oldest German museum harbor after whose example many museum - and traditional ship museums were established on the North and Baltic Seas. All historic watercraft are currently functional.

The association maintains the tradition of old work vessels earlier on the same were in use. Without the association these ships would have been probably already scrapped and no longer available to the public.

Entrance is free, donations are encouraged to help these entirely volunteer-based teams maintain the unique vessels for the future. Some can be visited on board, and a couple, like the Stettin, the largest surviving coal steam ship in the world, can even be taken on occasional demonstration journeys on the Elbe river.

View from the Landungsbrücken

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Jungfernstieg in Hamburg is a street on the southern bank of the Inner Alster in downtown Hamburg. It runs from the Reesendamm bridge to the Gänsemarkt.
You can have a good coffee there - not cheap but the view is worth it

The Alster Arcades are between Jungfernstieg and Rathausmarkt. Here you can feel a little Venetian flair.

Davidwache

Highlight • Monument

The Davidwache is a landmark that's best left unattended – the Davidwache. This beautiful brick building has stood on this prominent spot at the corner of Reeperbahn and Davidstraße for over 100 years. Despite its considerable age, the building wasn't the first police station in St. Pauli. The first station building was built on Kastanienallee as early as 1840. Due to the increased need for "supervision," the current location was moved to in 1868. Since this was still insufficient, a new building was commissioned, much to the displeasure of the entertainment establishments. The establishments believed that the presence of the station right next to their establishments would be detrimental to sales.

May 20, 2023,Von Hamburger Hafencity zur Schiffsbegrüßungsanlage in Wedel.
On the way to the welcome station, the Elbe had low water. Boats lay ashore and the old stranded wrecks were clearly visible. When I tried to save the man who had saved himself on a buoy, I realized that it was just a figure.

The tour was from 6/6/2022. - I had stupidly deleted the tour I had made and therefore re-imported my "planned tour" as a crutch.

A wonderful day cycling all over Hamburg, including the old Elbe tunnel. The sun was shining again from the sky 🌞🌞. Tomorrow we'll go on another discovery tour and then on Sunday morning we'll take the train back home 🔙

After 3 months with too much work, 2 weeks of Christmas friends, family ans gastronomic excesses and no bicycle at all, it is time to get on the trails again.
