Zwierzyniecki Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Zwierzyniecki Bridge in Wrocław is a steel truss bridge over the Old Oder, connecting the city centre with the Dąbie, Biskupin, Sępolno and Bartoszowice estates. Its history dates back to the 17th century, when the first wooden bridge was built here. The current structure, designed in the late 19th century by Karl Klimm and Richard Plüddemann, is distinguished by its characteristic steel arches and decorative obelisks made of red sandstone. The bridge survived the siege of Wrocław in 1945, despite preparations to blow it up. In the years 2022-2024, it underwent a thorough renovation, during which, among other things, a historical plaque with an inscription was recreated. Near the bridge is the Zwierzyniecka Marina, from where tourist boats depart on the Oder.

The Dom, or Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, stands on Cathedral Island, which used to be under the administration of the Bishop of Wrocław rather than the city. The construction of the Gothic cathedral started in the 1340s. On Easter Monday 1945, 70 percent of the church was destroyed. The reconstruction, which the Polish people of Wroclaw began immediately after the war, was only completed in 1991 when the two pointed helmets were placed on the church towers

Wrocław Cathedral

Highlight • Religious Site

This church is also worth seeing; Wrocław has a very high density of churches in relation to the city limits.

Cathedral Island in Wroclaw

Highlight • Bridge

To the cathedral island in Wroclaw (Wroclaw) one reaches over the cathedral bridge (Most Tumski). The construction of stone and riveted steel was built in the years 1888-1892. Statues of Saints Hedwig and John the Baptist standing to the left and right of the bridge seem to guard access to the island. The term island is no longer true. In the 19th century, the citizens of Wroclaw poured out the northern branch of the Oder. Since then, the cathedral island is no longer an island.

A Gothic brick bridge and one of Wroclaw's main churches. Old Catholic since 1945.
The bridge between the two church towers is the penitentiary's bridge. It is open to the public and has a great view of the city.

Wrocław Dwarfs

Highlight • Monument

The dwarves are a tourist attraction today and keep appearing "surprisingly", even if you have already walked the path. You can find it stupid, use the dwarf app or get involved and search for the dwarfs and thus share the fate of many tourists.
No matter what you think of it, but when looking for dwarfs you notice how superficial you walk through the area.
Conclusion: it can be fun!

Wrocław Główny Railway Station

Highlight • Monument

For a long time the station was the largest train station in Poland. Its design is very similar to that of the Wroclaw District Court.
