Cliff Walk Start (Memorial Boulevard and Easton's Beach)

The iconic Newport Cliff Walk's official start is here, on Memorial Boulevard, on the west side of Easton's Beach. You can park at the beach and begin your walk along the famous 3.5-mile, paved costal trail, enjoying panoramic ocean views on one side and incredible, historic Gilded Age mansions on the other.

Forty Steps

The Forty Steps are located less than a mile from the start of the Cliff Walk and are one of the notable landmarks along this trail and one of the most popular attractions in Newport. They are located near the intersection of Narragansett Avenue and Ochre Point Avenue, and are another spot to access the Cliff Walk. The 40 Steps are a stone staircase carved into the natural cliffs of the coastline that lead down to a beach. From the top of the steps there is an overlook that offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged coastline, dotted with the Gilded Age summer "cottages." It's a popular spot for watching the sunrise or sunset.

Rough Point Mansion
