Just before entering a short tunnel, you get a view of the Chinese Tea House at Marble House. The Chinese Tea House was constructed in the late 19th century, around the same time as Marble House itself. It was commissioned by Alva Vanderbilt, the wife of William K. Vanderbilt and the owner of Marble House. The design of the tea house was inspired by Chinese architectural motifs, reflecting the popularity of Orientalism during the Gilded Age. The Chinese Tea House served as a place for social gatherings and leisure activities for the Vanderbilt family and their guests. The Chinese Tea House, along with Marble House, is now owned and managed by the Preservation Society of Newport County. It is open to the public for guided tours, allowing visitors to explore its rich history and architectural beauty as part of the Marble House estate.

Unfortunately, you can only get into the teahouse if you also visit the mansions, which means the entrance fee is at least $25. That's quite a lot if you really just want to drink tea....
