View of Kloster Banz

Highlight • Viewpoint

The former Benedictine abbey of Banz Monastery is clearly visible on the Banzberg high above the Main Valley in Upper Franconia.
Banz Monastery was built by Leonhard and Johann Dientzenhofer and other well-known architects. The former Benedictine monastery now serves as an educational facility for the Hanns Seidel Foundation and as the backdrop for the "Songs on Banz". The monastery and the museum can be visited on a guided tour. The monastery church is also well worth seeing. The concerts of the Banz Organ Summer in the abbey church are popular.

View of the Staffelberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

It towers 280 m above the Main Valley - whoever climbs up will be rewarded with an impressive panoramic view of the Upper Main Valley. Today the Staffelberg with the Adelgundiskapelle and the Staffelbergklause is a popular destination for locals and tourists. In the past, more than 2,000 years ago, the Staffelberg was a settlement area and home of the Celts: just recently, a mighty gate in the west of the former Celtic town was archaeologically examined.

The mountain up to the pilgrimage basilica is tough. Especially in the upper area it gets really steep and the thighs have to work properly. Step in, you can do it!

On the high plateau at Staffelberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

The landscape between Staffelberg, Spitzberg and Lerchenberg is always worth a detour. Because every season the flora offers a completely new picture: from flowering meadows and fields with bright sunflowers to short grasses and individual bushes. The plateau is a feast for the eyes in both summer and winter.

Adelgundis Chapel on the Staffelberg

Highlight • Religious Site

The first Adelgundis chapel on the Staffelberg was destroyed during the Peasant Wars; today's chapel was consecrated in 1654. A hermit's hermitage was then built, which was replaced by a new building at the end of the 19th century. Today the hermitage, which was a hermit accommodation until the beginning of the 20th century, serves as a restaurant. One of the residents, the hermit Ivo Hennemann, became famous through Victor von Scheffel's "Frankenlied". Adelgundis, the namesake of the chapel, is regarded in the Catholic Church as an emergency helper in the event of serious illness and danger; she died at the end of the seventh century as the abbess of one Monastery in France.

Staffelberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great view over large parts of the Bad Staffelsteiner and Lichtenfelser area. With a small hospitality hut and sufficient seating outside. Several great paths up and down and connection to the surrounding forests.

June 24, 2023,Wanderung vom Wanderparkplatz Bad Staffelstein nach Vierzehnheiligen und über den Staffelberg zurück
Today the weather was really nice again 👍🏼☀️😉

Garnished with the right breaks (Nothelfer Trunk Vierlehnheiligen and Staffelberg Klause), the route and the altitude meters seem completely relaxed to us 😇

That's how it should be 👌🏼😉

The note that "Stefan R" took part in the hike as the third member of the group and, above all, was able to organize and expertly comment on the places, will follow! I already say "Thank you, Stefan!"

After the rain we went on a little tour. As expected, we didn't finish them in daylight. So it turned into a night hike with a headlamp.

Beautiful evening hike, but return in the dark, good that we had a headlamp with us

🚀 Let's start at the 🅿️ parking lot in Bad Staffelstein at 🌡️ +13.5° Celsius ⛅️ towards Romansthal. In Romansthal we walk the "Fourteen Saints Trail". Before we visit the ⛪️ Basilica of the Fourteen Saints, we strengthen ourselves at the Trunk brewery with a 🍻 emergency drink. After the 🍻🌳 beer garden has cleared a bit and the two …

On a whim, I decided to go hiking 🥾🥾on the Staffelberg with a colleague after work, taking advantage of the beautiful autumn weather ☀️☀️.

What a lovely Valentine's Day! 🥰

Attention, we took the wrong descent from Staffelberg! But since there's no turning back 😉 we continued down anyway. Definitely only for experienced hikers. Sure footing is absolutely essential!

From Staffelstein up the mountain to the Kerwa. Jasmin finally got her Kirchweihkrapfen there. Afterwards we went to the pub for a beer and a snack. Then back to Bad Staffelstein.
