Versailles was to become the center of royal power under the young king. In 1667, it was declared the future seat of government, and the court began to move from Paris to Versailles.
The most famous room in the palace is undoubtedly the Hall of Mirrors. It is almost 75 meters long and 10 meters wide. Its "Galerie des Glaces" consists of 357 mirror surfaces and serves a very specific purpose: the mirrors are opposite the 17 floor-to-ceiling windows and are intended to "bring" the park into the hall.
The Hall of Mirrors remained a historically significant and fateful place, even when the palace was no longer inhabited after the French Revolution:
