June 3, 2026,Schönau (Pfalz): Deutsch-französische Rundtour nach Wengelsbach (Elsass) - mit Pfaffenfelsen, Bruderfelsen, Zigeunerfelsen, Ruine Wasigenstein und schöner Einkehr
Today's tour between Schönau (Pfalz) and the pretty little village of Wengelsbach (Alsace) has been on my mind for a long time, ever since my hike to the Maimont in June 2025. (However, I was probably also inspired by a tour by @Kauai from September 25, 2022: We extended this tour with some "attractions".)

The planning template came from @MGBreva 🚶‍♂️🚴 🏍 , who went on the tour in a similar way in July: komoot.de/tour/836594270

Immediately after Schönau, the imposing Pfaffenfels awaited us with its ladder and its view. The next impressive rock was the gypsy rock with the typical wobbly railing;-) Unfortunately, the rain started just before that, which is why I didn't …

Borrowed today's dream hike from Angi63.
Thank you for this wonderful hike. We started in the border town of Schönau/Palatinate, hiked over the Pfaffenfelsen and Bruderfelsen and we were already in France.
On the 🇩🇪 l 🇫🇷 German-French Castle Trail we took the imposing Gypsy Rock with us before we took our lunch break at the Wasigenstein castle ruins.
After …

After the weather report predicted great weather for Sunday, we went with friends to the Palatinate Forest (our favorite forest) again. The start was in Schönau (large parking lot in the middle of the town) below the Pfaffenfelsen. Of course, things go up for the first time. You can reach the Pfaffenfelsen relatively quickly. Climb the ladder and enjoy the …

For today's tour with Flora (the other two need a rest day, Lilo has sore paws...) I start in Schönau on the French border. Via a beautiful forest path, a bit through the village and then uphill I get to the Pfaffenfelsen. After I've climbed the ladder, the riddle of the bright yellow power cable leading down to the valley …

What a nice tour it was today in the Southwest Palatinate ❤️🌤️ We walk over soft forest soil, climb on beautiful rocks, stand and marvel 😯 and are happy 😊 The gypsy rock and Château Wasigenstein were the highlights, but it was also beautiful, through the idyllic to walk Wengelsbachtal.
We hardly met anyone, which I haven't experienced for so …

A friend sent me a picture of the ringing rock in November. I then looked up where it was. Ok, Wengelsbach / France. The tour was also planned soon...... and was almost forgotten.
Today was the day (what else should you do on a sunny Easter Sunday).
My husband and I started in Schönau and soon came to the Pfaffenfelsen. …

It started in Schönau today.
First by the small French. Village Wengelsbach and from there then on a narrow path up to the Klingelfels and then on to Wasigenstein Castle.
Although we actually started relatively early...at least that's what I thought...there was already a lot going on there.
We were able to enjoy it anyway...a beautiful castle ruin!
Then the …
