On St. George's Day in Ruhpolding, there were naturally many people out and about – a mass was also being held at the mountain rescue hut. On the Eisenberg (steep at up to 31%, with its crooked cross), however, there were seven of us "alone," and in the end, even completely alone. It's a good thing the summit isn't signposted. …

Great winter hike on Eisenberg and Unternberg. We were completely alone at the summit...the other hikers probably headed straight for the Unternbergalm due to the weather conditions. ;)
The ascent to the Unternbergalm is on an easy forest road. For the detour to the Eisenberg you have to climb a short path.

Hike to the Unternbergalm for lunch. It takes about 1.5 - 2 hours to walk from the chairlift parking lot. Also easy to walk in winter.
The Alm itself is very well managed and offers good food at reasonable prices.

Nice tour 😊👍 from the Unternbergbahn valley station car park (€7 day ticket) to the Unternberg. Relatively easy to walk, mostly on wide roads and forest paths. But the view is very nice.
