Large Sandstone Rock on the Unraspfad

Highlight • Natural Monument

The interesting formations formed by the red sandstone cliffs here are not man-made. Nature was the architect, piling up rocks here over the course of Earth's history and partially smoothing them down again through erosion—a perpetual process.

Highlight • Viewpoint

Aurora is the name given to this area where the hills stand.

Some of them are still interspersed with ore, which was deposited there as waste rock from the old mine.

And as a viewpoint, it's simply wonderful.

What a glorious day! 🫠
Sunshine and spring-like temperatures—I thoroughly enjoyed the seating and loungers at the viewpoints along this hike!

Winter's hold seems to have faded; there's already a hint of spring in the air, the birds are returning to the forest, and the first spring flowers are pushing through the soil.
