Breitach Gorge Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

A breathtaking gorge with a fair entrance fee. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the path upstream is currently one-way. Personally, I think the one-way street is a good thing, and not just because of the coronavirus.

Juchhu, finally rain 🙈
Our start to the Allgäu vacation with Lena fell through quite a bit.
What a din in the Breitachklamm😲 and then reliable string rain, the poor sheep ..... so much wet wool under your belt. The cows try to shelter a bit in the forest and we bravely dodge through the area, diversions due to blocked …

Water and gorge were our topics this time. We had already experienced snow on various horns🏔, but we wanted to see how world-changing it can be when it melts. Off to the Breitachklamm! We weren't gorged, but we were deeply impressed by the roaring force of nature: thick tree trunks scattered like toothpicks thrown down, meter-thick boulders stuck like jammed …

Warm up in Oberstdorf:
Today we explored the Breitachklamm - very impressive - and then enjoyed the Allgäu panorama. Unfortunately, a bridge collapsed during high water and we had to reschedule our tour at short notice. True to the motto: Where there's a will, there's a way, we still enjoyed the Allgäu panorama very much.

Today the Breitachklamm 🥾 past a sea of stone figures (mine came along 😀). At the Waldhaus there was yeast dumplings filled with blueberries and vanilla sauce .... delicious and a 🍺 (non-alcoholic 😉) I continued on the Breitach until my way back. For the first time I saw a toadstool in person. At the Alpe Dornach there were ☕ …

Warning, lots of photos and a long text, but it was so special today including adventure 🫣
9:00 a.m. is perfect for the gorge, no one comes into your picture or towards you. I set off well wrapped up and was amazed right from the start, something so impressive created only by water is incredibly beautiful. The path is easy …

Through the deepest rocky gorge in Central Europe, the Breitachklamm. Then a little detour across the border into Kleinwalsertal 🇦🇹 to the Waldhaus 🍻 and back via Fuchslochalpe, Müllers Alpe 🍻, Alpe Hinterenge and Alpe Dornach (more of a gourmet temple than an alpine pasture). At the end you are rewarded with a fantastic alpine glow 🌄

We actually wanted to snowshoe hike - but difficult without snow 🤷🏼‍♀️
So we spontaneously decided to do a small round trip through the Breitachklamm.
Always worthwhile and impressive 😃
Unfortunately, we didn't experience an ice miracle because the temperatures were far too mild - but at least there were small icicles here and there ☝️😁
It was always wonderful …

A wonderful loop. Crystal-clear water, incredible rock formations, and an impressive panorama begin the hike. Then, magnificent scenery with views of the Hoher Ifen, the Kanzelwand/Feĺhorn trail, and lush meadows follow. A stop at the Alpe Dornach to finish. 😃
