Hiking

The Breitachklamm near Oberstdorf in the Allgäu region, with a depth of around 150 meters, is the deepest rocky gorge in Central Europe and has been officially named the "Natural Wonder of the Year 2025". The impressive geological site extends across the Tiefenbach district of Oberstdorf into the Austrian Kleinwalsertal valley. A well-secured, approximately 2.5-kilometer-long hiking trail leads directly past the roaring masses of water.

The Breitach River has cut 150 meters deep into the rock over 10,000 years and is considered the deepest rock gorge in Central Europe. The impressive gorge has been accessible (via bridges and footbridges) since 1905. High traffic, paths on gravel, concrete, wooden planks, and steel gratings.
