Healing Spring (Windeck-Ohmbach)

Highlight • Natural Monument

A pretty little retreat with benches and history. In addition to the saint whose eyes were (allegedly) healed here, other healed people have also immortalized themselves with stones.

Narrow forest path

Highlight • Trail

Nice section of the trail on which a narrow path winds through the hills between the trees.

Wilberhofen Viewpoint Shelter

Highlight • Viewpoint

For a short time you have to part from the view of the river, it goes steeply up to the Auenberg. The view from the refuge compensates for that!

Viewpoint of Siegwasserfall

Highlight • Viewpoint

You have a great view of the waterfall. It's usually quite crowded on the weekends, so go there during the weekday or early in the morning and enjoy the peace and quiet.

November 1, 2021,Natursteig Sieg - Etappe 07: Schladern - Herchen
Already very nice, pathed sections, but unfortunately very asphalt-heavy and in places really badly signposted (gave me an extra (height) meter).

I purposely walked around so that I had enough time at the Siegfall in Schladern at the beginning - it was very worth it!

The view from the slope to the Sieg and Dattenfeld is also very nice :)

Today we walked from Herchen to Schladern in wonderful spring weather. It was a very varied tour, sometimes in the forest, sometimes along the Sieg or through beautiful floodplain landscapes, like at Dreisel through meadows and fields. The paths were mostly natural, with many paths that often led steeply up or down, or meadow paths.
A really beautiful tour that …

Hiked the 7th stage of the Natursteig Sieg today. It started in Herchen. A bit along the road, then it went into the forest. The tour is very nice.

In fact, it took over a year before we tackled a new stage of the "Natursteig Sieg."

Last Friday, the time had finally come.

This time, we traveled by public transport, and, wonder of the world, everything went smoothly. The buses and trains were on time and fairly empty 👍

It keeps getting better! The Natursteig Sieg has long won me over with its many long paths, and today new qualities were added:

🔹Lots of time directly by the Sieg river with natural bank passages
🔹Steep ascents and descents in sum and quality that truly deserve the name Steig (path)
🔹The first longer single trail through a steep slope

Showing Translation

This time many paths directly on the Sieg, but in between there are always demanding gradients > 20%. Most of the difficulties are in the first half of the route, after which it goes for kilometers through the picturesque valley of the former Siegschleife. Only after crossing the Sieg in Windeck is there another almost 400 m shorter steep ascent. …

Today we continued on the 7th stage. I do the 06 and 10 (circular routes) separately.
A fantastic route, but it was tough.

At the beginning there was a flight of stairs
A narrow, sometimes slippery path followed
Look to victory.
Strenuously further up to the Auenberg with a refuge and a beautiful view of Wilberhofen
It was soon possible …

So, we're finally continuing the Sieg Nature Trail. The last part was over a year ago, it's about time.
After getting off the train in Herchen in perfect hiking weather, we climb the stairs to the school to warm up (just the first of several climbs).
Once at the top, a narrow singletrack trail leads us along the steep bank …
