June 18, 2024,Berchtesgadener Land - Almbachklamm mit Ettenberg
First a tourist tour.
Then a really great hike with my sweetheart.

Today we went through the Almbach Gorge on narrow and interesting paths. The path led via the Theresienklause and Ettenberg back to the Kugelmühle car park.
Tip: lentil soup at the Mesnerwirt in Ettenberg and a visit to the pilgrimage church.
The water-powered ball mill at the entrance to the gorge is the only one in Germany.

Very nice tour

Where the Almbach has been making its way through solid rock for thousands of years, we are now going uphill on well-developed and secured paths. The gorge can be hiked by everyone thanks to steps, bridges and fixed ropes. Only on the deviating way back (in our case via Ettenberg) does it get a bit more rustic. The descent via …

Start at the Kugelmühle car park. Enter the Hammerstielwand to Ettenberg. Narrow path. In Ettenberg past the church towards Theresienklause. Then the alpine path through the Almbachklamm. The path there is already narrow. Hikers have suddenly turned around because of the path (at that point, surefootedness and a head for heights were gone). The Almbachklamm is an absolute nature experience.

A great half-day hike through a very impressive gorge, then through forest and wide meadows with views of the Untersberg. Read more in the Gipfelglück blog: gipfel-glueck.de/fruehling-in-berchtesgaden

Admission 6 € pp which is worth it. Sure-footedness, to be mastered with good shoes. You should also be free from vertigo, as you walk over Gutterrostbrücken and the mighty Almbach gushes under one. Dogs are allowed in, only have to be kept on a leash. Good leash guidance …

Was actually planned the other way around, but still went well. In retrospect almost even better.

Showing Translation

The Almbachklamm is a gorge between Ettenberg and Maria Gern in the Berchtesgaden Alps, through which the Almbach flows.
The history of the Almbachklamm begins with the melting of the glaciers during the last ice age around 15,000 years ago. The meltwater and later the rainwater cut into the once contiguous old land surfaces of Ettenberg and Maria Gern and …
