The parking lot at the castle pond is the ideal starting point for the Dierdorfer Weg. I recommend starting the round to the left, i.e. towards Dernbach, as the path markings in the opposite direction are often not present, as they are partially missing on the round.
Unfortunately, the round has a noticeably large number of paved sections, but makes up for it with some very beautiful, rustic trails and long forest paths.

After a long search, an old hiking map with the Nistertal circular routes Ni 1 - Ni 5 came to light in the neighborhood. According to the stories, the former and now deceased local mayor Kurt Döner personally, accompanied by his brother Waldemar, took care of the signposting of the paths - but after that, probably nobody.
Uwe and I understood the task - Ni 5 has been found and recorded on Komoot. Let's see how things will look in autumn ;-)

After starting in frosty temperatures, it got warmer and warmer during the day, almost spring-like - a great day for hiking. The stairway to the slate mine in particular caused doubts about the choice of clothing - but are you dressed too warmly? The mine as such is quite interesting even if it is only relatively small. The effects on Komoot and on the GPS are remarkable, because when I got back from the mountain I was standing at the entrance to Astert - Telewandern, so to speak, according to the navigation system, and I can deduct about 4 km from the tour.
The route via Limbach to Kundert and Mörsbach is rather unusual, but justified by the vastness of the fields, the deep and steep valleys and a view to Hachenburg and to Wissen. I don't have to say anything more about the (return) way along the Nister - simply fantastic; a "Wäller Waalweg".

After I was able to find out that the new signs for Nistertaler hiking trails (Nit 1 - Nit 3) are quite a disaster, I decided to explore and record the old hiking trails (Ni 1 - ...). As it turns out today, it's more of a puzzle; Spring is just around the corner and since the state doesn't offer any great opportunities anyway, there is plenty of time to continue the tour of discovery.
