A handwritten wooden plaque near the dam wall indicates that it bears the name "Theresienklause" (Theresian Chapel) and was built by the saltworks administration from 1834 to 1836. Approximately 15,000 cubic meters of water could be dammed. The sudden opening of the lock raised the water level in the Almbach Gorge to approximately 1.5 meters. This allowed timber and firewood up to 4.5 meters long to be floated. The last float took place in the spring of 1963.

Was built in 1690 and served as a water reservoir to transport beaten wood to the ball mill.
