Start of Gore-Tex Permanent Trail Running Route

Starting and finishing point of the "Percorso Gore-Tex - Trail Running", at the parking lot in via Aldo Moro in Pieve di Soligo, near the park in via Borgo Stolfi.

This is the first Italian hilly trail running course created on the initiative of the US multinational Gore-Tex. A singular project started in 2010 after the mountain experiences of Canazei (Trento), Cervinia and Courmayeur (Aosta), and landed among the vineyards of Prosecco DOCG, between the course of the Soligo river and the hills of Collagù and San Gallo.

The route retraces the one identified by the Tam Tam (Trail Alta Marca) association for the first edition of the Prosecco Trail held in October 2010. It is a circuit of approximately 12.6 kilometers (with a positive difference in height of 344 metres), for 90% dirt road, which does not present great difficulties. It can be traveled independently, in every season, thanks to the dedicated trail signs located at every kilometre. From the start, it runs alongside the watercourse along the Troi track in the direction of Solighetto (Strada delle Rive) and, having passed the SP4, reaches the Sottocroda locality to develop on the hilly area of Soligo.

San Gallo Hermitage

The hermitage of San Gallo is a small religious complex, consisting of a small church with an adjoining house for the hermits, located on the top of the homonymous hill, in the municipality of Farra di Soligo. Starting from 1430, when the friar Egidio di Lombardia chose this place as his home, the church was for a long time a refuge for hermit-keepers. The hermitage can be reached either on foot, along the numerous paths surrounded by vineyards and chestnut woods, or along the road that starts near the Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul.
From the terraced hill on which the hermitage stands, at 363 m above sea level, you can enjoy one of the best views of the Quartier del Piave, the entire Treviso plain and the surrounding hills (for example, Rua di Feletto and Collalto can be distinguished of Susegana, in addition to the long profile of Montello).

Aviator Monument and Madonna of Loreto

On the hill of San Gallo, to the east of the church, stands the Monument of the Aviere: a stylized airplane wing in reinforced concrete surmounted by a bronze statue of the Madonna of Loreto, patroness and protector of aviators. The monument was erected on the initiative of the students of the Quartier del Piave Aeronautical Association on the land donated to the Municipality of Farra di Soligo by the Rigamonti family.

The view from the monument is spectacular at 360 ° and sweeps across the entire valley of the Quartier del Piave, beyond the Montello hill with glimpses, on clear days, to the Venice Lagoon. To the east, north and west the panorama is a natural amphitheater on the Treviso and Belluno Prealps.
