Fancy a quick climb? 😅? From the parking lot in Maria Schutz, the Gebirgsjägersteig (mountain hunter's trail) leads pretty much directly up the 700m to the Pollereshütte and to the summit of the Sonnwendstein. The narrow path winds beautifully up the mountain over roots and rocks. Every now and then, we glimpse the valley below and are delighted to see …

From Maria Schutz we first went up the mountain hunters' trail. At the beginning you can still hear the noises of our civilization, but these become quieter with the altitude until they disappear completely. A stop at the Pollereshütte is highly recommended.
