Good morning dear people. I know the Wohldorfer Wald too little, but all year round the adjacent NSG Duvenstedter Brook is one of my alltime and for the rest of life highlights !! I have not encountered otters so far, but ... There are absolute rarities of flora and fauna throughout the year, including: For so far in the West insanely many cranes as breeding birds, high flyers and also overwinterers (The climate change in real time!) Is being looked after (not only this) NSG by the NABU Hamburg and as one of the focal points by the district group "Walddörfer". Base of the NABU in the area is the "Brookhus" with many changing exhibitions, tours, environmental bonding and so on and so forth. I do not want to force-convert anyone to environmental activists, but if you're interested ... just ask Komootgemeinde !!!

August 12, 2024,47/24 Rundwanderung Wohldorfer Wald & Duvenstedter Brook
Disclaimer: Komoot may have choked on the time and average speed information.

This afternoon/early evening I went on a circular hike from Ohlstedt through the Wohldorfer Forest and the Duvenstedter Brook.

A beautiful and relaxing, 15.3km long feel-good hike through a very varied and beautiful landscape, all in the best summer hiking weather.

Today we took the subway to the last stop of the U1 in Ohlstedt. In glorious sunshine and almost summery temperatures we went through the Wohldorfer forest, past Kupferteich and Kupfermühle and Brookhus for a walk around the Duvenstedter Brook. The mosquitoes were quite friendly, speeds under 5 km/h should be avoided.

Like a small, hidden natural paradise, the Wohldorfer Wald and Duvenstedter Brook nature reserves stretch across northern Hamburg, encompassing heath and moorland, with the Ammersbek, a tributary of the Alster, flowing right through them.

It's a perfect idyll, really, but the irony is the air traffic heading towards the airport, which eventually starts to get a bit annoying.

The Duvenstedter Brook always works. But just outside the breeding season it is fantastic when the small border wall can be walked on. In any case, with the sun shining brightly, it was an absolute highlight.

I'm too clumsy for Komoot. I just move the mouse for a second and poof, the comment is gone.

So, back to square one, and I'd better save after every sentence.

For months, my favorite hiking areas in Hamburg were blocked. The elevated railway was under construction – "Volksdorf Bridges 2025." Now the subway is running again, and Sunday was …

Today I'm going to the north of Hamburg with my girlfriend. 🅿️free of charge at a hiking car park at Mühlenredder.

Discovered:
☆ "Wohldorfer Wald" soil educational trail - information boards
☆ Ice cellar of the Wohldorfer manor house, since 1924 there has been a large memorial stone (boulder) here for the victims of the First World War
☆ Wohldorfer …

So “hiking” was on the calendar. Despite the rain, it was a nice round...even if the starlings didn't dance. But we did hear a deer growling.

Showing Translation

The Duvenstedter Brook is and remains one of my favorite places. The larger paths were, as expected, a bit busier. But on the smaller paths we were almost alone in the moor and forest. Well... us and the mosquitoes. 😅
