The tournament meadow and the upper castle can be reached via this bridge. From the street, head in the direction of Niederburg and just before you reach the entrance to the castle, turn off in the direction of Lieser/Tournament Meadow.

"The Lower Castle, first mentioned in documents in 1133, was the ancestral home of the Counts of Manderscheid. The castle, which has been uninhabited since 1794, is now owned by the Eifel Association. It has been restored and today, together with the Manderscheid Upper Castle, forms an impressive backdrop for the annual castle festival with knightly games that takes place on the last weekend in August." Alone or in a group... Here you can sing one of the local songs presented. Since I was alone in the forest, I gave it a try! I think the birdsong 🐦 was much quieter afterwards than before - maybe I should probably leave it alone?! 😂
