The name is said to go back to stories and explanations about the castles of Manderscheid, the Middle Ages and training to become a knight.
Perhaps there really was a master-at-arms "Georg vom Weifelsjunk"?! 🧐

If you are on the local hiking trail No. 14 "Weifelsjunkweg" of the Eifelverein e.V., local group Manderscheid - the following information:
👉 Here at the Weifelsjunkhütte I looked in vain for the sign "14" (and therefore turned uphill through the forest to Manderscheid prematurely)! The Weifelsjunkweg actually runs a little further south via the Lieserpfad and then leads back to Manderscheid in a curve via Jakobsplatz!
