The road is very well asphalted and branches off well beyond Monte Scuro reaching Lorica, passing through wonderful places.

The historic center of the city of Cosenza is located on seven hills, like Rome, and preserves evidence of different eras and cultures. In ancient times it was the capital of the Bruzi, an Italic population that opposed the Romans, and it was also the favorite seat of Frederick II of Swabia, who built a castle with polygonal towers there.

The Valico di Monte Scuro is a mountain pass located at more than 1600 meters above sea level on the Sila Grande. It is a winter tourist destination thanks to the presence of a cross-country ski run along the "Strada delle Vette". Near the pass is the Refuge, which offers bar, restaurant and overnight services.

From this point begins the Strada delle vette, in the direction of Lorica. Symbolic place of the Sila with its tranquility and its views. A little further up is the Monte Scuro refuge, a refreshment bar.
